CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, Illinois with Bro Phil Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Oblong Cemetery with Military Rite conducted by Oblong American Legion Post #219.

Floyd E. Ikemire, 90, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 6:40 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, Illinois.
Floyd was born on April 18, 1923 in Oblong, Illinois and was the son of Elmer E. Ikemire and Junie (Dennis) Ikemire. In December 31, 1955, he married Laura J. Turnipseed who died on February 24, 2009.
Floyd was an insurance agent for over 40 years. Many of those years were with Shipman Insurance and then as co-owner of Boyd-Ikemire Insurance of Oblong, Illinois. Floyd was a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII; member of Central United Methodist Church of Oblong; Oblong High School Class of 1941; Robinson Elks #1188; 60 years member of the Oblong Masonic Lodge #644 AF &AM and Oblong American Legion Post #219. Floyd enjoyed having coffee at Harmon’s every morning and for many years assisted at the Marshall Funeral Home and the Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong.
Floyd is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Mark and Cynthia Ikemire of Evansville, Indiana; grandson Eric Ikemire of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; sister Kathryn Hall of Scottsdale, AZ; two nieces Cheryl Hall of Beaumont, Texas and Terri Gaschler of Arizona; a nephew David Hall of Arizona; as well as several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife; a brother Owen Ikemire and a sister Irma Padgett.
